Farewells...

I thought that I would never start an orbituaries' page. However, the very sad loss of my beloved 'Barney sen.' today made me change my mind.

Barney sen. came to me as a rescue rabbit. As his ears had semi-lopped he was no longer of any 'use' at the shows despite the many wins he had at the time on the show bench.

Barney sen. was born in March 2001 and was loved by so many people who met him. He started off the whole Plush Lop project, fathering many generations. He was such a soppy rabbit, always readily licking my face while enjoying a good rub of his back in return.

He has been going off his food for the last three/four days, and he finally passed away peacefully this morning, on the 8th of December 2008.

I shall miss him terribly, as he has given me so much pleasure, more than words can say.

Run free old boy.....

Barely six days later I lost my beloved River-Buster today who was very kindly given to me by Lyn.
He soon stole my heart and settled in well. However, despite having him checked out by a vet his health
was never 100% and no cause could be found.

I found him in his hutch this morning, on the 3rd of Advent, Sunday the 14th of December 2008.

Rest in peace my beautiful castor rex...

This has been a very sad year with regard to losing much-loved rabbits, especially during the last three months.

First, there was Duke, a most beautiful Chinchilla Rex.

Then the father of all my Argente Cremes, Monty, also passed away peacefully in December, followed by Marmalade, mother to my first generation of Plush Lops who died on Christmas Day.

It never seems to get any 'easier' with regard to the loss of any rabbits, I feel though, thankfully, most of them died of old age.

It is with great sadness that I was informed by a young lady who I sold 'Bailey' to that he had to be put to sleep in 2009, after having given her many years of joy.

Rest in peace Bailey. You will be greatly missed.
